User Acceptance Testing for Oracle Agile to Syteline ERP integration Project - Amazon Robotics

Agile Testing is a core critical business process. Agile is a major application that is used to store the bill of materials of the parts used for the drive units and Syteline is the ERP system which maintains the integrated and automated data from manufacturing, operations, production, deployment and other organizational data.

What was my Job?

The main aim of the project was to ensure that the Syteline-Agile interface works reliably post the agile upgrade. On a high level, ensure that there is no communication gap (rather bridge the communication gap) between agile and Syteline ERP system.

What did I do?

 I validated and tested the bill of materials. When we receive purchase orders, the items in Syteline and Agile bill of materials purchased should go hand in hand, else this would affect the cost of the materials and in turn cause serious issue with the suppliers. I looked over 25 engineering change orders (ECO(s)) in the agile test environment to ensure that the Syteline-Agile interface works well after the agile upgrade.

What business value did this project add? 

The major impact of this project is;

• Ensures the purchase of the right parts from the suppliers and helps order the right parts as per demand for the Amazon's fulfillment center. 
• Accurate entry of engineering change order to Syteline and Agile BOM (bill of materials) would save the company from losing tens of thousands of dollars because of the mismatch in ECO record or missing BOMs in the agile. 

Redesign the Return Material Business Process - Amazon Robotics

After Amazon acquired Kiva Systems (now called Amazon Robotics), the growth of the company has been massive but the growth in the resources couldn't match the growth of the company.
So, the field spares services came up to the Business Applications Team (the team I worked for) and gave us this big project of redesigning the RMA process (Return Material Authorization). Basically the RMA process is a process where the parts sent to the warehouses may either be damaged or needs a replacement, scrapping the returned part and sending a new part or repairing the damaged part.

What was my job?

The aim of my project was to redesign the complete RMA process to make it more scalable and efficient.

What did I do?

I and my team gathered requirements from the business owner, the field services. Then, I created the process model of the current running business process, analysed the flaws and the major bottleneck that is preventing it from supporting the growth of the company.
Based on the analysis, we redesigned the current business process incorporating all the major bottlenecks witnessed in the current business process. Now the new redesigned business process would be outsourced to the third party.

What business value does this add?

The major impact that this project would have on the business;

• Scalability - The new RMA process is more scalable 
• Helps send the parts directly from the fulfillment center to the supplier unlike the current process where the parts are shipped to Amazon Robotics and later takes further steps. 
• Field service is the third party's core competency. 
• Centralizes the inventory management
• Higher service level agreement

Reorganization of IT intranet site in SharePoint - Amazon Robotics

Amazon Robotics uses SharePoint as a secure place to store, organize, share and access information from almost any device.  SharePoint server is deployed and managed on-premise. It includes all features of the SharePoint from Business Intelligence to News feed.

What was my Job? 

The major aim of my project, Reorganization of the IT intranet site in SharePoint, was to revamp the complete IS portal on SharePoint and Confluence by reorganizing the contents on the major IT platforms. 

What did I do?

Firstly, I documented the requirements gathered from the end users, IT teams. Based on the requirements, I made a content guide detailing the analysis of the type of the content available on the SharePoint site,  identified the level of  confidentiality of the data, the location the content should go, determined if that was a content to help other users complete tasks and/ or use applications and so on. 

Based on all these data, 

• Reorganized the data/content and location of the documentations attached with the IT intranet site
• Ensured the consistency of the site
• Managed the metadata for the documents
• Helped protect documents from unauthorized access
• Ensured consistent business process and/or workflow for how the site was handled
• Created an applications catalog online and a user catalog to assist the end users better track the running applications and update them as and when required. 

What was the impact of this project on the Business?

The business value that this project added was that;

• Helped standardize the format of content storage conforming to the policies on the major applications that runs in the company. 
• Enhanced the view and maintenance capability of the publicly accessed applications. 
• Reduced around 40-50% of the time spent by the end users and increased the flexibility of usage.

Worked a Business Developer in GMR Krishnagiri SEZ Project (GKSIR). Gained a hands-on experience in business development.

- Designed an innovative Business Process Model for Human Resources and Field Services, improved the current process by enhancing scalability, centralizing the inventory management, increasing the service level agreement and leaned down the time, cost and human labor for HR recruitment process

- Worked on Tableau projects (gained in-depth knowledge on data visualization tool)

- Validated and Tested the Engineering Change Order on the ERP system in contrast with the Bill of Materials on the Agile Staging Platform.

- Worked on a major IT application, SharePoint for Amazon Robotics, to standardize the content storage conforming to the policies, enhance the view and maintenance capability of the publicly accessed applications reducing the time spent on organizing the content.

- Worked on Amazon ECHO, AWS Lambda function and node .js language.

- Trained in AWS Business and Technical Essentials.
